Cost: $10.00 for 0.48 oz. from Walgreens or RiteAid
This is another product from Sally Hansen’s Natural Beauty line, inspired by Carmindy.
I had actually never heard of face primers before, until I heard Carmindy recommend it. So, I thought I’d try it.
Here is what I learned about face primers:
- Just like you prime a wall before you paint it, you can prime your face before you apply your foundation.
- The claims are that face primers will
(1) even out skin toneSo, I tried it! Here’s what I’ve found:
(2) help your makeup stay on longer (particularly in hot weather)
(3) absorb bad oil from your skin before you put on your makeup
| Pros | Cons |
| Even though the bottle is small, you only need one pump (not even one FULL pump) daily, so the bottle lasts longer than you’d think. | The bottle is really small |
| I HAVE definitely noticed an improvement in how my foundation wears. I have noticed my face looking much fresher at the end of the day than when I’ve gone without the face primer, which is nice. | I haven’t noticed my skin tone evening out (meaning, my darker spots are still dark. My lighter spots are still light. My reddish spots are still reddish. To fix this, I still have to use foundation.) |
| I have also completely seen how it absorbs oil immediately, without drying my skin. It has the coolest feel to it – it feels dry, although it’s a liquid. I don’t know how they do that! But, my skin feels soft and oil-free after putting it on. | Although it has great perks, this product is not essential to your daily routine. Beauty experts even suggest that your daily moisturizer can pretty much have the same effects if you buy one with similar ingredients. So, I particularly won’t be spending the $10 again to buy another bottle. (But it does do most of what it claims, so for that I give it a silver rating.) But who knows, you may LOVE IT! |
| The really COOL thing about this primer is that is has micronized pearl (little gorgeous shimmering specks). So, this product really does give you healthy glow, because these little specks catch and reflect light, brightening your complexion. I think it looks really pretty. | |
| Contains the antioxidant vitamin E | |
| You can supposedly wear this alone (with no foundation) if your skin is naturally beautiful. I know some girls who don’t need to wear any foundation whatsoever, but who would probably really like this because it just makes your skin look brighter. Lucky, lucky girls. I wish this was all I needed to wear every day to look radiant! |
